Food Pick Up Driver

Responsible for picking up and delivering donated and purchased goods on scheduled days. The driver's responsibilities include loading and unloading the items. ? Pickups are Monday, Wednesday and Friday morning in town and out of town can be flexible. ? When possible schedule oil changes and regular maintenance items. All major work needs approved by Corps officer. ? Responsible to promptly report to immediate supervisor all accidents involving any vehicle, personal injury or property damage. ? Act as personal representative of The Salvation Army and insure that all customers are treated courteously. Immediately report any problem in pick-ups to immediate supervisor.? Wear provided back guard when doing any substantial lifting or moving. ? Help load food in the van and unload food and donations into the building. ? Work with possible volunteers who will ride with to pick up food. ? Perform other duties as assigned.
Education: High School diploma or equivalent.
Experience: Position requires basic communications with customers and other employees; Ability to prepare brief written reports /delivery lists, logs and schedules, Ability to comprehend written job description, city map, cleaning instructions, safety rules, operating maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals and material safety data sheet. Ability to apply common sense understanding furnished in written, oral or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardization situations. Must have reasonable reasoning skills.
Experience in the area of customer relations and warehouse experience helpful. Appropriate state drivers' license is required and a CDL is a bonus. After a period of 6 months on the job we might be willing to help the employee acquire a CDL either through un paid time off or helping pay for the testing or both. DOT medical card required and must pass TSA MVR check. Must be a team player, a self-starter, and perform well with minimum supervision. Also, individual must be willing to become familiar with and support the mission of The Salvation Army; must be able to pass background check.
Physical Demands/ Work Environment: This Position is required to do light to moderate physical work. In order to successfully perform the essential functions of this position, the individual is regularly required to remain stationary for some periods of time, use hands and fingers, communicate, move, occasionally required to position self to stoop, kneel or crouch, frequently required to reach with and use arms and hands as required in using standard office equipment and a PC. Specific vision abilities by this job include close vision, distance vision and ability to focus. The work environment for this position includes an office environment with a low noise level and stores with a moderate noise level. Individual must be able to frequently lift up to fifty pounds and occasionally up to seventy pounds with help from a dolly or another person.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
